Dental coverage is offered through MetLife’s Preferred Dentist Program (PDP). You have two plan options to choose from: the Low Plan and the High Plan. Both plans cover preventive care at 100% in-network with no deductible, so your routine cleanings and exams are fully covered.
The main differences between plans are the annual maximum benefit and how much you’ll pay if you see an out-of-network dentist. The High Plan offers a higher annual max and pays the same percentage whether you’re in or out of network.
Orthodontia is available for dependent children up to age 19, with a $1,000 lifetime maximum on both plans.
All dental benefits run on a calendar year basis.

You can see any dentist you choose, but your costs will be lower with an in-network provider. MetLife’s network includes thousands of general dentists and specialists nationwide. Network dentists have agreed to accept negotiated fees that are typically 30-45% below average charges in your area.

Pretreatment Estimates
If you’re planning dental work expected to cost more than $300, ask your dentist to submit a pretreatment estimate. MetLife will send you and your dentist an estimate of what the plan will pay so you know your out-of-pocket costs upfront. Your dentist can submit requests at metdental.com or call 1-877-MET-DDS9.
